Another Grief

This morning I was lucky enough that our weekly church play group met at our house- the mothers could watch Audrey while I showered and rested. Audrey had fun sharing her toys, and one of the moms brought some of her favorite snacks- strawberries and blueberries- and even ice cream sandwiches.

Later though, I saw Audrey and two sisters, 3 and 5, playing in her tent. Three year old Sophie very gently took Audrey by the arm and helped her in the tent.

The tears came instantly- I had so wanted you to have a sister Audrey. Appa also said he wanted another girl, which surprised me a little. I had so wanted that for you- and for me and for our family. I can't believe that future has disappeared as well.
