Love Letter

It's funny how today I am finding so much love from you- is this your gift to me on our anniversary?

Another beautiful present you gave me a number of years ago- you sang a song- and made this little booklet/collage- inside was 1 Cor 13- typed up- around it were numbered post- its with your handwriting that said the following:

I'm really glad we serve a God of love. During the past 3 years, He's been teaching me a new kind of love through you- A sweet genuine love from a sister. Since I never had a sister, or a close female friend, it took me some time to get used to it.

But now I truly know how much you care for me and I can feel your prayers all the time.
Thank you for showing me Christ's love in your own unique ways. Through your creativity, powerful words, compassion, goofiness- thank you.

I know my way of expressing love isn't always a hit. Trying to find something in common in toilet humor, basketball, or getting you an Indian outfit cuz I thought you'd look good in it...(& you do)
But I just want you to know that...I love you.

I know I'll have to get better and we have a long way to go (like everyone).
Our Beatles argument, my unhealthy eating (mmmm...Coke), our uncertain future, your grad-school...I do know things will get tough.

But! Uncertainty is a great thing! It means there are endless possibilities and millions of places we've never even heard of.
Love will conquer all. Through love, I'll grow and mature, and become a man of love, just like his Father. Love, Daniel

Love

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
