Economics

I have a migraine.

Thinking lately about economics- how in our society we use economic terms to discuss so many things.  We even talk about relationships in these terms- we invest in them- we expect a return.

But I've been thinking about two things that just don't fit the basic laws of economics.  Genuine love- because you give without any expectation of receiving.  You don't need an acknowledgment or even a thank you note when your action is one of genuine love for another.  It is not done to affirm your own goodness.  It is anonymous and joyful.

And death- because it is such a waste.  It simply takes everything.  All is gone with no return.

Therefore, death is not so much the opposite of life, but
the opposite
of
love.
